Elastic Lace As Decorative Embellishment For Knit Garments

by 19 Comments

I recently received a beautiful package full with samples of elastic lace from this awesome shop called “LAURL”
Laurl, the owner offers some beautiful stuff such as fabrics and embellishments including elastic laces, ribbon roses and flowers, fiber embellishment nest kits and trims of all types.

This is what I received for this review:

Elastic Lace As Decorative Embellishment For Knit Garments

I am showcasing today’s tutorial on a simple t-shirt:

Elastic Lace As Decorative Embellishment For Knit Garments

It’s a simply style knit tee but for this review I wanted to use the elastic lace. The shirt above was finished without any embellishment and for this review I made another one to add the lace. I started on the sleeve and cut a piece of elastic lace about half the length as the sleeve is wide since I wanted the sleeve to be snug on the wrist and let the elastic pull it together:

Then after I determined which is the right and wrong side of the elastic lace (it’s hard to see but it’s there), I pinned the lace to my sleeve hem which I left unfinished (knits won’t unravel). I used a lot of pins to secure an even line:

With a zigzag stitch of 3 width and 2.5 length I stitched the lace on. This is how my sleeve looks now:

For the neckline I simply pinned the lace on and zigzagstitched around neckline:
