Easy shorts sewing pattern
These girls shorts are so easy to make! You can use wovens or knit fabric. With wovens they fit comfortable and with knits, roomy. Babies should wear disposable diapers for a perfect fit. The waist has a lower rise than regular shorts and has elastic.
The leg length is school approved in most cases. They are modest with a touch of fun with the optional ruching on the front legs. For visual help, here is a video tutorial for the ruching: https://youtu.be/gy4HlzPxwvA
To pick the right size and yardage, please refer to the chart (see images).
Tip for a more relaxed fit: upsize for a roomier fit and higher rise, keep the leg length the same.

You will need:
- Woven fabric or knits
- Sewing machine
- Serger is optional
- 7/8″ band elastic for the waist
- Elastic thread for the ruching
- Scissors
- Straight pins
- Iron
- Threaded hand sew needle

The name of these shorts says it all. You can sew these up in 30 minutes and get a perfect fit. I LOVE the length for my very active modest child. Comfortable and can be made in Wovens, Bottom Weight and knit fabrics. This is a must have pattern for the beginner to the advanced sewist.
